Understanding the Basics
Electrology - Electrology is the practice of electrical depilation to permanently remove human hair using a metal probe that is inserted into the hair follicle to modify the matrix cell.
Electrolysis - Electrolysis is the actual process of removing the hair.
Laser Hair Removal Laser hair removal, also known as photoepilation, is one of the various light-based methods to remove hair. An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) epilator is used. The device is not technically a laser and uses xenon flash lamps that emit full spectrum light.
There are three hair removal methods, Galvanic, Thermolysis and Blend. They all work by modifying or killing the hair matrix cells using a metal probe that is inserted into the hair follicle without puncturing the skin.
Removal of excessive hair growth is a rapidly expanding area within the health and beauty sector. Licensure in electrolysis is usually a prerequisite to obtaining certification for laser hair removal.
Training in permanent hair removal is offered by many schools. To learn more about the different hair removal techniques please use the following Search box to find Electrology Programs near you.
